Cincinnati Tea Party Pictures – April 15, 2009

As promised, here are a handful of photos from the Cincinnati Tea Party. I can tell you now that it was more than went to the March 15 event. I heard an estimate on WLW of 7,000. My ballpark guess would have pressed higher than that just. The square was jam packed and people were filling Vine Street as well, so it was clearly a large crowd. Though I did see some people dressed as if they were there from work, the majority of people seemed dressed to be there for the long haul.

I personally saw a handful of counter-protesters (probably 8 or 9 total). I heard (but did not see) what sounded like 20 or so at one point chanting “O-ba-ma”, but they were quickly drowned out by some chanting of “U. S. A.” One of the counter-protesters I saw was chanting “White Supremacy.” I guess she thought Robert Byrd was coming or something. One carried a sign that said “Republican’s Fore Sell Cry Babies.” At least he spelled cry babies correctly. Most of the others were content to chant “O-ba-ma.” I saw a couple get asked questions like “What has Obama done that you like?” and watched them only come up with answers similar to “You’re a racist.” For the most part the protesters ignored the counter-protesters.

After a few speakers, the group marched from Fountain Square to City Hall. I noted quite a few people looking out of office windows watching and a few even giving thumbs up to the crowd as they marched by. A petition to reject stimulus money was handed over when we arrived at City Hall. The crowd stayed around for a while, chanting (“USA”) and singing (“God Bless America”).

Below is a wide variety of the photos I took. I had a difficult time getting good crowd shots since the high places were either packed with people or blocked off. There’s a good mix of crowd shots, signs, and people. This includes the event, the march, and the arrival at City Hall.

Tea Party (Take 2) Tommorow

Just a reminder that tommorow (April 15) is National Tea Party day. In Cincinnati it will be at Fountain Square starting at 11:30AM. We will be walking a signed petition urging rejection of stimulus funds to city hall.

Orlando Tea Party: 4000 Attendees

I know a lot of my readers are interested in the teaparties that have been occurring across our great neation. The Orlando Sentinel reports that 4000 people attended their tea party at Lake Eola on Saturday afternoon. The movement is going strong, and may grow stronger with yet another $1 Trillion bailout in the works.

The next Cincinnati event is April 15 (details at cincinnatiteaparty.org).

Here are some photographs of the Cincinnati Tea Party. My appologies on the quality of the photos. I am normally a decent photographer, but somehow I had the settings horribly wrong on the camera but did not realize it. Everything came out completely overexposed, but I’ve edited them as best I can. My goal on the photo editing was to make the signs as readable as possible.

I took these photos mostly the 30-60 minutes prior to the event. The crowd sizes in these photos were probably half of what they were at the peak. (Update: Official numbers came in at 5000 attending!!!) A very good turnout and a very friendly crowd.

I don’t have many photos of the speakers due to the fact my family and I were sitting in the back of the square. There was a solid mass of people in the square and some were spilling out beyond the square.

A huge thanks to Mike Wilson for organizing the event. I that a lot of money was spent to pull off this event (not to mention the time). I encourage everyone that can to make a donation to Cincinnati Tea Party.

The Cincinnati Tea Party is only 6 days away and I thought I’d give a few updates.

Pelosi Snowed Out of Global Warming Rally

Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) flight (not sure if it was commercial or private) was delayed and she was unable to attend the Global Warming Rally in Washington D.C. due to a blizzard that hit the D.C. area Sunday night.

House Select Energy Independence and Global Warming Chairman Edward Markey (D-MA) was also forced to cancel his appearance due to the weather.

I honestly wonder why they don’t schedule these rallies for summertime for some dramatic impact.

I have been informed that the Cincinnati Tea Party is planned for Sunday, March 15, 3PM – 5PM at Fountain Square. Check out the official website for more details. Former Congressman Steve Chabot will be speaking.

Take the opportunity to be vocal. Being a member of the silent majority is not enough. We need to show our compassion, state our case, and make it clear that we are unhappy with the path the Government is taking.
