I honestly have no idea where this started, but I’ve seen it a couple places across the net now. It seems to be the best summary out there on where we are on this health care debacle and how we got there.
Republicans: Hey guys, since it’s May 2009, here’s a bunch of our ideas on health care reform.
Democrats to Republicans: La La La We can’t hear you.
Democrats to the public: Those Republicans have no ideas.
Republicans to the public: Yes we do.
Democrats to the public: Hey, ignore those guys over there. Look, squirrel!
Democrats: Hey look at how many new taxes we can come up with!
Public: Screw you, we hate your new taxes and we don’t want your health insurance mandate.
Democrats: Oh crap, we don’t have the votes in our own caucus to pass this. Can’t we find a way to blame Republicans for our own failures?
Republicans: No sir. You’re not sticking us with your crap sandwich that even your own caucus won’t eat.
Democrats: Fine. Then let’s talk about some of those ideas that we’ve been lying about for the better part of a year and telling everyone that you never had.
Republicans: OK. Let’s put aside this crap sandwich you came up, and let’s look at this salad of options we gave you before you even started drafting your bills last year.
Democrats: Hmmm…we’ll take a piece of lettuce from your salad and put it on top our crap sandwich to dress it up a little bit. Now swallow it.
Republicans:Ummmm…in case you hadn’t noticed. It’s still a crap sandwich even if you put a piece of lettuce on it, so..yeah..we’re gonna take a pass on that. But hey, enjoy eating that crap sandwich without us. Don’t forget to wipe your mouth when you’re through. See you in November!
