Could Murtha Lose Seat in Pennsylvania?

Murtha is really trying his best to dig a hole for himself in Pennsylvania.  The only recent polling info I’ve been able to find is mentioned on NRO, although it is just a source near the Russell campaign.  It says that Russell was down 14 points prior to the racist and redneck comments.  According to NRO, even with the 14 point lead, Murtha still was not at 50% support.  Even worse for Murtha, 40% said they were ready for a change and only 24% had any awareness of the Russell campaign.

527 groups are sensing potential weakness and have opened up with campaign ads to assist Russell.  Murtha has had a string of questionable comments such as accusing Marines of killing Iraqi civilians in cold blood.  Russell, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with 28 years of service, is sure to have passion against such comments.

Are the people of Pennsylvania finally tired of the reckless statements Murtha has been making?

Obama has Uncomfortable Visit in North Carolina Restaurant

I happened upon this story that shows just how divided the electorate is in many states.  Obama went to a barbecue restaurant in Fayetteville, N.C.  A customer there started shouting “Socialist”, only to have someone else respond “At least he’s not a warmonger.”  Later, the presidential candidate attempted to shake the customer’s hand, only to be refused.

The voters who have decided on McCain or Obama definately have their passions.  Those that are undecided probably can’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable being in the middle.  There are still many voters that either candidate can win the hearts of.  The polls continue to tighten, making every voter an important commodity.

Zogby Polls Narrow to Under 3 Points

The latest Zogby pollshows McCain has decreased his deficit to only 2.7% (within the error margin of 2.9%).  This continues the 4 day trend of a narrowing Obama lead by the Zogby poll.  McCain’s biggest gains have been in the independent voter category, cutting in half the gap there from 16% to 8%.

It appears that recent events, such as ACORN and Obama’s gaffe with Joe the Plumber are starting to show in the polls.  McCain’s appearance on Letterman seems to have gone over well, helping his cause.  Neither candidate should feel safe with 7.1% of the electorate still undecided.  Once again, this race is taking on the look of a close run to the finish.

Rasmussen Shows Obama Up by 5

The latest Rasmussen poll is showing Obama’s lead is 5.  The state polls show McCain down 5 in Nevada, McCain down 6 in Missouri, McCain down 7 in Colorado and a tie here in Ohio.  Polling is always questionable simply due to party weighting, but it’s interesting to watch the trends.  The Rasmussen polls have been fairly steady, but other polls have been fluctuating and showing McCain closing the gap.

Another Joe the Plumber Supports McCain

Came across an article on KnoxNews about another Joe the Plumber that dislikes Obama.  His arguments about Obama are slightly different than the Toledo Joe the Plumber (that doesn’t like Obama’s socialistic “spread the wealth” philosophy).  This Joe prefers experience to inexperience and is choosing to support John McCain.
