I’ve had a couple of my left-wing readers email me asking why I don’t talk about it (BTW, don’t be afraid to use the comments section and let everyone hear your opinions). Honestly, I really was ignoring the whole idiots inciting violence story. The last thing these morons need is more publicity. But, I noticed that Rush Limbaugh’s show was flooded with coverage of it, and I took a look at MSNBC (while trying to hold my dinner down) and it seemed they didn’t have any other stories to cover. I suppose that means I should put my $0.02 on it lest someone say I’m dodging a huge story (which I still say it isn’t).
I’ll start by pointing out that anyone who thinks only idiotic people from the right make threats is insane. Let’s just start by looking at the pundits. It’s bad enough that right-wing pundits receive threats almost daily (I’ve got my share as well). It’s even worse that left-wing pundits themselves make statements that are borderline threats.
Now for those of you misinformed enough to believe that suggestions of violence only comes from right-wing idiots, here’s some of the latest examples of violence from left-wing idiots.
Let’s start with a voicemail received by Jean Schmidt.
OK, I’ve met Jean Schmidt (she’s from a nearby district). I’ve heard Jean Schmidt talk. She’s level-headed and most definitely not a racist. In fact, the whole race baiting thing is moronic. The moron that left the voicemail really needs a dictionary. If anything I’d suggest he’s the racist for suggesting that minorities are the only one affected by issues with the health care system. Regardless of how racist this moron is, he’s clearly angry and has no confidence in his viewpoint. He’s trying intimidate Congresswoman Schmidt into silence. Oddly enough the fact he even thinks there’s the slightest chance this will work makes him an even bigger moron.
Then you have the moron who cut a propane gas line at a Congressman’s brother’s house. No, he wasn’t targeting the brother… this guy was going after the congressman, but was such a moron he didn’t have the right address.
Let’s not forget the Eric Cantor incident. I wonder why this wasn’t immediately branded by the media as anti-Semitic, but that’s a story for another day.
And then there’s the example of the moron who was part of a moveon.org rally that bit off the finger of a man against health care. In fact, there’s lists of acts that left-wing morons have done of late (and I’m sure there are lists of acts from right-wing morons as well). Face it, both sides are morons when they commit acts like this! Democrats playing victim status right now is a red herring to get people to ignore their disregard of consituents opinions over the health care plan. It’s also a ploy to fire up their base into gearing up for the mid-term elections.
And let’s not forget all the morons that threatened President George W. Bush for the longest time.
You’ll notice that this is one of the more blunt posts I’ve made in quite some time. It’s not because I want to sound like Mark Lavin, it’s because I honestly have no patience for idiotic acts like this. This is not a time to come to arms, we aren’t at a point in our history that we need to storm the castles with guns. The processes that we citizens use are still in tact. We can, and must, take action at the polls. If your representative is not representing you, vote them out!
Anyone going after pundits is simply so unsure of their viewpoints that they feel their only recourse is to threaten their opponents in an attempt to silence them. It means that even they know that they aren’t informed enough to defend their viewpoints. They know they should gather more information and learn more about the topic at hand, but instead they choose to make threats or commit violence… that is what makes them an idiot and it is what makes me feel so free to say so. If they were secure in their viewpoints they’d be open to a debate in an attempt to convert their opponent to their side.
I’ve had several leftist readers since I started this blog that I love to see posts from. They are well thought out and they obviously feel confident in their views. I’ve made it clear that I love a healthy debate. I love challenging my views (and I encourage all of you to challenge yours, no matter how right you know you are) and the best way to do that is to find someone with the opposite opinion that feels knowledgable enough in that opinion to compare notes with you. Will both of you come to an agreement? Most likely not, but you’ll have some insight into the other viewpoint and you may have reason to re-consider some of your own.
Regardless, I’ll just re-iterate again that making threats or inciting violence at a time like this is quite simply… a moron. These acts are carried out by both sides. There are right-wing morons and there are left-wing morons. They also don’t represent their respective sides as a whole. The majority of people on the right are good people as are the majority of people on the left. Don’t profile a group of people just because of the actions of one moron.

Thanks for clearing that up. It’s been irritating me that the media is only running stories about threats to Liberals and didn’t mention the Cantor thing. I myself haven’t heard about Jean Schmidt at all.
Lets not forget about Bart Stupak who was threatened as much by libs when he was against Obamakare as he was after changing his vote and siding with it.
I do agree though that all of these people are idiots for making threats of physical violence in an arena aften referred to as “the war of words.”
Now my question is where are all the people who complained to you in the first place? Did they loose interest in the story now that the truth is out?
Good post!
