Trivial Coverage of Obama’s Trip

It’s hard to say if it was design by the Obama team but coverage so-far of the trip to Great Brittan is weak to say the least. Contrary to Bush, who used to schedule events to co-incide with U.S. morning shows, Obama started his day at 5:15AM Eastern. Nearly every event banned news cameras, including his visit with the Queen.

On a side note, at least Obama learned a little from his ill-fated gift to the Prime Minister. He loaded an iPod with a video and photographs from the Queen’s 2007 United States visit. On the good side, at least the Queen can watch the video. On the bad side, the Queen already has an iPod.

At least the G20 protests may give news crews following Obama may have something to do, even if Obama won’t let them cover him.

Lot’s of Obama fawning at CNN; Wolf Blitzer spent the entire afternoon noting Michelle Obama’s sleeveless dress. Ugh.

Yeah, that’s something that was really irritating. It seemed at times like watching some Hollywood awards pre-show. “Look at the beautiful pin-striping on the dress. It reminds me of Jacqueline Kennedy.” Disappointing news coverage for sure.

This president continues to get a kid gloves treatment from the press.
