OPEC to Substantially Cut Supplies

According to a Breitbart article, OPEC will make substantial production cuts to lower supplies and stabilize oil prices.  Oil has slowly dropped in prices to a more reasonable level so it’s not surprising OPEC will tighten the spigots to raise the prices again.  Prices are currently around $70/barrel and OPEC claims their target price is $70-90 a barrel.  I have to point out that they weren’t in as big a state of panic when oil was nearing $150/barrel, but they sure are now that it’s dropped back to $70.

Oil demand has lowered considerably due to the high prices and likely will continue to do so if the prices are again raised.  This just further makes the case that the US needs a solid energy plan that includes both alternative energy development and drilling our own oil reserves.  We need to get our own supplies that are independent of foreign suppliers until we are able to move away from oil to an alternative source.

Rasmussen Shows Obama Up by 5

The latest Rasmussen poll is showing Obama’s lead is 5.  The state polls show McCain down 5 in Nevada, McCain down 6 in Missouri, McCain down 7 in Colorado and a tie here in Ohio.  Polling is always questionable simply due to party weighting, but it’s interesting to watch the trends.  The Rasmussen polls have been fairly steady, but other polls have been fluctuating and showing McCain closing the gap.

Another Joe the Plumber Supports McCain

Came across an article on KnoxNews about another Joe the Plumber that dislikes Obama.  His arguments about Obama are slightly different than the Toledo Joe the Plumber (that doesn’t like Obama’s socialistic “spread the wealth” philosophy).  This Joe prefers experience to inexperience and is choosing to support John McCain.

Supreme Court Backs Dems on Ohio ACORN Issue

The US Supreme Court today ruled that the Ohio GOP does not have standing to file suit.  This means that Democratic Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner doesn’t have to abide by the 6th Circuit Court’s earlier ruling that she implements some voter fraud prevention.

This is a travesty for Ohio and the nation.  Some 200,000 of nearly 666,000 new voters have records that don’t match government databases.  This is not about voter disenfranchisement, this is about preventing voter fraud.  When nearly 1/3 of your new voters are in question, there is a problem.  The Board of Elections simply doesn’t have the resouces to handle this.

Anyone that is confident in the system at this point is insane.  Between cries of Diebold fraud on the left and voter registration fraud on the right, where is the confidence at?  I know many people are angry at the tactics that ACORN is using, I am one of them.  When you hear stories of people being bribed to register 72 times, how can you feel safe in the process?

Palin Visits West Chester

Personal Photo from Palin EventI had the privledge of being able to attend the Palin rally in West Chester, Ohio today.  It was an absolutely fantastic event.  I’d guestimate 3,000-4,000 attended, though I will warn that I’m not great at estimating!  I took a load of pictures with my brand new Canon XSi (available on Flickr), one of them is now the banner for the site!

Palin made a point to stress Obama’s links to ACORN.  Given the importance of ACORN’s activities in Ohio, it was perfect for the crowd.  She made the call to the Obama campaign to release all their communications with ACORN to the public.  Given Obama’s quick move to distance himself from ACORN (as he has done with all his associations sofar in the campaign), it is unlikely he will.  Sarah also gave a great one-liner along the lines of not letting Obama turn the Buckeye State into the ACORN State, which got a great response from the energetic crowd.

Southwest Ohio, particularly Butler County is safe territory for McCain/Palin.  Boehner has a solid hold on this area of the state.  The key here is to keep the base energized so that turnout is high to counteract the rest of the state (especially the voter fraud being perpetrated by groups such as ACORN).

If you get a chance to attend one of a Palin rally, I highly recommend it.  She is an excellent and energetic speaker and isn’t afraid to bring her points home bluntly.
